A few months ago ASUS released one of their flagship named ZenFone Selfie, along with ZenFone 2 Laser, ZenFone 2 Max, and ZenFone 2 Deluxe. ZenFone selfie seems to be welcomed by the international market, it is marked by the number of posts in the forums that discuss how to rooting and other customization.
I’m a ZenFone Selfie user, one thing that sucks is the amount of bloatware that make the system run slower. To get rid of all the bloatware obviously requires root access. Well, fortunately, there is a method to root the ZenFone Selfie.
This method is easy to do, but you need to download the pre-rooted firmware.
Follow the steps below.
1. Install ADB & Fastboot on your PC or Mac, use this tutorial.
2. Download the pre-rooted firmware, choose the slim version if you don’t want to use all ASUS apps. Go here and choose the newest WW firmware, download only the system.img (in “slim” folder), boot.img (in “common” folder) and recovery.img (in “common” folder)
3. Turn off your device and go to fastboot mode by pressing “Power+Vol Up”
4. Run these commands
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
5. Now, do a normal reboot. You should get your Android rooted now.
Good luck!
